Rod and Needle & RFA Teacher
"My journey into needle felting began when I got married, moved and lost my studio space where I was creating large, more abstract sculptures and commissions for theatre following my time at Slippery Rock University where I received my BFA in art, with a focus on sculpture, BA in modern dance and art history minor.
My love for the outdoors has always informed my work, but my work shifted to a more detailed focus on wildlife when I started needle felting. Working almost solely in this medium for about seven years, my pieces range from brook trout to pterosaurs. I have been lucky enough to be the artist-in-residence at two national parks and one state park in the United States, and love creating pieces that can allow the viewer to lean in close to an animal they might not normally get close to."
